Reflexology

In addition to traditional Podiatry / Chiropody treatments, I am also trained in Reflexology.  This is a complimentary therapy and can therefore be used safely along side orthodox and alternative medicine.

Reflexology works on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the organs, glands and parts of the body.   Reflexology is a unique method of using the thumbs and fingers on these reflex areas.   Reflexology includes but is not limited to: - relieve stress and tension - to improve blood supply and circulation and hence promote the unblocking of nerve impulses - to help the body to achieve Homeostasis (balancing of the body so all organs work in harmony with each other)

Reflexology and Tension
About 75% of today's diseases are associated with stress and tension. The symptoms can vary from person to person and can include gastro-intestinal, anorexia, headache, palpitation, etc. Reflexology can play an important part in reducing this percentage as it can be used as a preventative measure.

Reflexology and Blood Circulation
Because all organs and glands contribute to our well-being, it is important that they are supplied with oxygenated blood. If there is a blockage or insufficient supply to the areas, tension is put on the organ causing it to malfunction. By applying Reflexology to the corresponding area the pressure on the vessel is eased, hence improving the blood flow to all parts of the body.

Reflexology and Balancing
Over and under-acting glands and organs can benefit from Reflexology since it can help return it to its normal function level. Once normal, the treatment cannot unbalance the organ to the opposite extreme if over-worked. Any symptoms of Reflexology are due to the removal of toxins from the body.
